Fisherman’s Cottage is located in a truly beautiful position, overlooking the stunning coastline which is literally outside of the front door and beautiful countryside just a short drive away

Here are some ideas to help you enjoy your visit to Fisherman’s Cottage

Tweedle Childrens Animal Farm

If you have young people with you, you might like to visit and spend a bit of time with the animals.

Hartlepool Headland Story Trail

This is an interesting and well signposted walking trail consisting of 18 information boards (topped by a monkey) which tells the history of the Headland in about 2 hours. You can pick up the trail at any point.

Headland

North Sands is a 1.5 mile walk along the promenade and continues to Crimdon Dene and beyond.  As well as the beaches a stone’s throw from Fisherman’s Cottage there are other beaches to explore.

Seaton Carew

On the south side of Hartlepool offers a very different atmosphere – ice cream, candy floss, fish and chips.  Though restrictions for dogs apply in the summer there’s still lots of beach to walk on.

And of course, for a day trip you have Whitby and Staithes not too far away.

RSPB Salthome

If you love nature then just 15 minutes’ drive away visit the RSPB flagship with hides, café and viewing gallery. Also nearby a seal hide and viewing platform.

National Museum of the Royal Navy

A recreation of an 18th century seaport in the heart of Hartlepool’s town centre.

Beamish Open Air Museum

A recreation of times gone by with reconstructed streets, shops, fairground and even a mine!

The National Glass Centre, Sunderland

Glass exhibitions, demonstrations and workshops. Less than an hour away and well worth a visit.

Cycling

National Cycle Network route 14 - open your front door and cycle along the promenade to join the National Cycle Network route 14 and explore Durham’s Heritage Coast.

Visit Durham

For more inspiration about what to see in our amazing county visit Durham - only a 20 minute car ride away from the cottage.

Hartlepool Marina

Lots of eating out options  at Hartlepool Marina – a great place to visit either day or night! Navigation Point is a busy hub of bars, cafes and restaurants offering tastes from around the world.

Portofino

One of many great places to eat on Hartlepool’s historic quay. Italian, Pizza & Mediterranean Restaurant - full of atmosphere. It overlooks Hartlepool's most famous attraction, HMS Trincomalee. Surrounded by free car parks, it is the ideal venue for lazy lunchtimes, fast teatime treats and party nights.

Great food, decent prices with a big, friendly Italian family atmosphere.
