WELCOME TO FISHERMAN’S COTTAGE, HARTLEPOOL

A COMFORTABLE, SELF CATERING HOLIDAY HOME  - LOCATED IN AN UNSPOILT , WORKING COASTLINE  AREA - A TRULY WELL KEPT SECRET

Fisherman’s Cottage is situated on Hartlepool’s Historic Headland and is the most southerly point of the Heritage Coastal footpath route.  The Headland’s colourful history includes invasions by Vikings and Scots, founding of the monastery by St Hilda of Whitby and its important place in the history of WW1 when it saw the first casualty on home soil during its bombardment by the German fleet in the World War I.

Fisherman’s Cottage was built in the late 1800s and has retained its historic charm.  The cottage itself is nautical themed, based on its heritage and designed to allow you to relax and escape.

The cottage comprises:

  • Sleeps 2-3 adults – one double bedroom and one lounge bed settee. Put-up beds can also be requested for children.
  • The living space: the ground floor living room with small wood burner; fully equipped kitchen with door to an outside courtyard. If you plan to use the wood burner a starter pack of kindling and logs will be made available to you. Thereafter you will need to purchase your wood supply or this can be requested and supplied for you.
  • Upstairs a large double bedroom with fabulous views over the bay and the long vista along the North East coast.
  • The bathroom has a walk-in shower and ample towels available for your use.
  • Wi-fi is available.
  • TV, Stereo radio and cd player.

On road parking at the front of the house is always available.

Just a short walk to lovely traditional pubs, fish and chip shop and greengrocers.

Testimonials

Just a flavour of the feedback that I get from my customers.  And once they have been and stayed they inevitable come back for more.  Guests stay at the cottage for many reasons to explore the coastline and all that it brings and to use the cottage as a base to travel more widely around the NE for example Whitby, The Lake District, Durham, Northumberland.  Many also want to stay to visit friends and family in the area.

“Highly recommend, it is in a quiet location with views of the sea. There are great walks on your doorstep, including the Croft Gardens and along the town wall. It is clean, comfortable and well equipped. It is very homely. Great value for money. There is a second bed to use via a day bed or put up bed too. The owner Wendy, is great to deal with.”

NICHOLA BROWN

My name is Anne and I now reside in Melbourne, Australia, but was born in the Historic town of Hartlepool, in Co. Durham. During my frequent trips to my birth-place I discovered ‘Fisherman’s Cottage’ – my perfect ‘Getaway’ base to visit family and friends in the N.E. A beautifully cared for one-bedroom cottage with every amenity and only yards away from Sand and Sea with views across the Harbour to Seaton Carew. Should you need it, local transport is just around the corner – a 10 min. ride to the lovely Hartlepool Marina and Shopping Town – or further, to the Yorkshire Moors, Whitby, York and beyond. It’s really comforting to know that I’ve found the perfect resting place for my trips home!”
